The City of South Padre Island has the following positions available: Transportation Vehicle Operator: (Part – Time) Pay Rate: $11.11/hour
The City of South Padre Island is looking for responsible, friendly and courteous drivers for our transportation system: The WAVE. Drivers will be responsible for transporting passengers in a safe, timely manner while adhering to a printed schedule and route within the City and Port Isabel. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent, at least 23 years of age, have a commercial Driver’s License (CDL A or B), have no more than (2) moving violations or accidents within the last three years, capable of speaking writing, and understanding the English language, be willing to work a flexible schedule, have passed a U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) qualified physical for commercial transportation operators within the previous twenty-four (24) month period and pass an initial and continue to pass random FTA-approved drug and alcohol tests. This position will mostly be working weekdays.
Reserve Police Officer: (Temporary/Part - Time)
applicants must be T.C.L.E.O.S.E. certified, submit to a written and physical test and submit to an extensive background check. Reserves receive pay for special assignments.

South Padre Island Birding & Nature Center Manager
Responsible for the overall management, planning, organizing, supervising and controlling of all activities of the non-profit organization which includes but is not limited to: performing a variety of task associated with the day-to-day operations of the Birding and Nature Center, such as leadership strategic planning, fundraising, Board of Director relations, budget/finance, revenue creation, human resources, public relations, marketing, communication and development planning, establishing policy, setting direction and providing oversight for accomplishing the administration, resource management, visitor services and programs, interpretation and maintenance, fundraising and other duties required to concentrate on our mission as a 501 (c)(3) organization, acting as chief organization spokesperson to government agencies, community organizations and the public. Qualifications/Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Marketing, Biology or related field with specific experience in Birding/Nature/Parks/Eco Tourism/Natural Resource Management preferred in a non-profit setting. Master Degree preferred. A minimum of 5 years of relevant progressively more responsible management experience in non-profit businesses or equivalent required. Reputation for successfully meeting challenges, strategic thinking and ability to see the big picture; understanding of political realities, subtle nuances and undercurrents in any situation; dedication to the principles and experience successfully developing and encouraging public participation in the BNC. Should have an outgoing personality, a “can do” attitude, be willing to problem solve and conduct oneself in a professional manner. Applicants must possess a valid Texas driver’s license with a satisfactory Driving record. The ability to speak both English and Spanish is a plus. Working Conditions: Must be able to work weekends, after hours, and respond to emergency calls.
